PATERSON (WABC) -- Police in New Jersey have arrested two men accused of a violent home invasion robbery while posing as police officers.

Authorities say 32-year-old Jason Thompson and 28-year-old Clemente Carlos entered an apartment on 20th Avenue in Paterson wearing shirts with sheriffs logos and replica sheriff badges on August 12.

They allegedly tied up the residents and threatened them with guns before taking off with property.

Officials say images from security cameras helped lead to the arrests.

The men are charged with robbery, aggravated assault and impersonating law enforcement officers.
