'Rent is too Damn High' party founder announces retirement from politics

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Jimmy McMillan didn't end up winning any elections, but he sure left his mark.

The founder of "The Rent is too Damn High" party announced that he's retiring from politics.

McMillan became an internet sensation when he ran for governor of New York State in 2010.

He won less than 1% of the vote.

He also ran for mayor.

McMillan says he's retiring because of a lack of public support for his agenda.
