Three pedestrians struck by cement truck in Queens

CORONA, Queens (WABC) -- A mother and her two children are hospitalized after they were struck by a cement truck in Queens Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Junction Boulevard and 55th Avenue in Corona.

The truck driver was heading south on Junction Boulevard, turning onto 55th Avenue, and struck the woman and children as they were crossing the street.

The FDNY said the three victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital. The woman's injuries are said to be more severe than those of the children.

The photo above of the scene shows what appears to be a long skid mark from a cement truck's front right tire.

Police are interviewing the cement truck driver. No charges were immediately filed.

Police are advising drivers to avoid the area.
