NEW YORK (WABC) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo is recovering from hand surgery after a mishap on the basketball court.

The governor's office says Cuomo had hand surgery Tuesday for an injury he suffered during a game of one-on-one basketball with his brother Chris.

The governor told guests at a holiday party that he tore a ligament in his right hand after he hit the rim of the basket during a game.
