Police search for gunman after fatal shooting of Paterson bodega owner

PATERSON, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police in New Jersey are investigating the fatal shooting of a bodega owner in Paterson.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired Friday night at the Ellison Mini Market on Ellison Street.

They found its owner, 64-year-old Jose Tavarez, with a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

Regular customers at the bodega were stunned to learn of his murder.
