Police-involved shooting in Paterson leaves 1 dead

PATERSON, New Jersey (WABC) -- One person was fatally shot in an apparent police-involved shooting in Paterson Friday morning.

Officers from the Paterson Police Department said they were walking toward a suspect when he fired at them at Summer Street and Oak Street just before 2 a.m.

Officers returned fire and shot Ismael Miranda. Miranda was pronounced dead.

The shooting is under investigation.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.
