BRIELLE, New Jersey -- The Coast Guard has come to the aid of a woman who was injured when a recreational vessel ran aground at the Jersey shore.

A 29-foot response boat was launched around noon Sunday from the Manasquan Inlet station after officials got a distress call from a good Samaritan. Authorities say the 23-foot center console boat ran aground near the Brielle railroad bridge.

The Coast Guard crew soon found the woman, who had suffered a neck and head injury, and took her back to the station. Her name was not released, and further details on her condition were not disclosed.

It's not yet known what caused the accident.
