Teen rescued after jet ski becomes disabled
Josh Einiger has the latest details.

EAST ROCKAWAY, New York (WABC) -- The NYPD Aviation Unit came to the rescue of a teenager who was stranded in the marsh in Lawrence Harbor, in Nassau County.

A grandfather and his grandson were on a jet ski when the jet ski became disabled on Friday afternoon.

Somehow, the two got separated. The teen told police that he'd been walking on the marsh for three hours.

The Town of Hempstead Bay Constables rescued the grandfather, and the grandson was spotted in the weedy, thick marsh.

The only way to get him out would be to lift him by helicopter.

An officer stayed with the boy while the helicopter got into position.

Once they were hooked up, the officer bear-hugged the teen and up they went.
