Up Close: New questions about train safety after Hoboken crash
NEW YORK (WABC) -- There are serious and disturbing questions train safety again, after the latest deadly accident.
A New Jersey Transit train crashed through speed bumps and slammed into the station in Hoboken, killing one person and injuring 114.
There have been least five train accidents in the Northeast in the last three years.
This week, a closer look at what needs to be done to improve safety on the tracks.
Joining us from the Hoboken train station is U.S. Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey, the ranking Democratic member of the banking subcommittee that oversees mass transit.
Also, Congress handed President Obama a crushing political defeat last week by voting overwhelmingly to override his veto of a 9/11 bill, allowing family members of victims to sue Saudi Arabia.
The White House called the vote the single most embarrassing thing the Senate has done in decades.
President Obama and Pentagon officials say the legislation puts U.S. troops and interests at risk.
