'Small Small Thing', the story of a Liberian rape victim, has digital debut

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The documentary, "A Small Small Thing: The Olivia Zinnah Story" had its worldwide digital debut this month, sharing the story of Liberian rape victim Olivia Zinnah, who died in 2012 at the age of 12.

Olivia died from her injuries despite five years of medical treatments and the intervention of the Liberian government. The documentary begins when Olivia is 9 and being treated at JFK Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia with acute, life threatening injuries from a sexual assault at the hands of a family member.

Jessica Vale, the director, producer and writer; and Nika Offenbac, director of photography, appeared on Eyewitness News to talk to anchor Rob Nelson about their project.
