Dog lost by dog sitter found safe on Long Island
Ken Rosato has more on the lost dog that was found safe on Long Island.

SEAFORD, Long Island (WABC) -- There is elation among a family on Long Island.

Their beloved dog "Buddy" has been found safe nearly a month after he ran away from home.

The 1-year-old Lab-Beagle mix escaped his home in Wantagh in September while he was being watched by a dog sitter.

Buddy's family, who was at Disney World, left their vacation six days early to return home and search for him.

Buddy had been missing for more than three weeks, until Saturday when he was found in Seaford by dog trackers assisting in the search.

He lost about eight pounds and had a few cuts and ticks, but is otherwise in good health.
