Manhole fire burns in the East Village
A manhole exploded and caught fire in the East Village on Thursday night.

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A manhole exploded and caught fire in the East Village on Thursday night.

It happened on 2nd Avenue between 2nd and 3rd streets just after 8 p.m.

Con Edison responded to the scene and they say that no one was injured and there are no outages as a result of the explosion.

They are now making repairs.

So far, it's not yet known what led to the explosion.
