GOWANUS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Ax throwing in Brooklyn? You can imagine I was a little puzzled by the idea at first. Wait, I can go throw axes? Indoors? For fun? You bet! So what a perfect idea for this week's 'Field Trip,' as we headed to Gowanus to a place called "Kick Axe".

Once there, you feel like you've been transplanted to an indoor lodge in Northern Canada. The atmosphere helps set the tone for what you're about to experience. You and a bunch of your friends then get first-hand instruction on how to properly throw an ax.

You're placed in 'lanes' as if you're playing darts, with a similar target, only much bigger. You can play games, such as '211 or 'Moose,' which is just like playing 'Horse' in basketball, where you have to hit the exact target as the person you're playing against.
