3-year-old girl riding bike fatally struck by tow truck in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, New Jersey (WABC) -- A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by a tow truck while riding her bike in New Jersey Thursday.

The tragic incident happened at 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of 7th Street and Forest Avenue in Lakewood.

Police say she rode out of her driveway and into the street, where she was struck by a tow truck.

The driver stayed at the scene.

It is unknown if there is any criminality, and authorities are investigating and talking to the driver.

The girl's mom was home at the time.

The town will help the family to ensure proper burial under Hasidic customs.
