Truck strikes 2 pedestrians, crashes into building in Bath Beach, Brooklyn
Naveen Dhaliwal reports on the two pedestrians who were reportedly struck by a truck in Brooklyn.

BATH BEACH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A out-of-control box truck slammed into a restaurant, struck a man on the sidewalk, then backed into another pedestrian in Brooklyn Friday afternoon.

It happened around 2 p.m. on 86th Street near Bay 34th Street in Bath Beach.

Sources said the box truck slammed into the Malaysian restaurant and then hit a grey van. During the crash, a man on the sidewalk was hit. The driver of the truck then backed up and hit a woman behind him before crashing into a D train subway pillar.

The victims were taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where the man is in critical condition. Both are expected to survive.

The driver is in police custody.

City inspectors found that the crash created a vertical crack in building's facade and knocked out a plate-glass window. No structural damage was observed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
