Rescuers search in possible case of person falling through Rahway River ice in Cranford

CRANFORD, N.J. (WABC) -- Rescue workers were looking into whether someone fell through the ice on the Rahway River Friday night.

Police and rescue workers from surrounding areas responded to Sperry Park in Cranford around 11 p.m. after receiving a call from a nearby resident who said they heard screams for help from the area.

Police found a hole in the ice and searched the scene, but no one was found and the search was called off around 2 a.m.

The Cranford Police Department are referring all calls to Union County Police Department which is not commenting at this time.
