Up Close: U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
NEW YORK (WABC) -- This week, a candid conversation with New York's junior U.S. Senator and a best-selling book author, Kirsten Gillibrand.
Among the topics: the economy, next year's presidential race and Hillary Clinton's seemingly clear sailing to the Democratic nomination, being a woman in the old boy's club called the Senate, and all those comments about her weight and appearance after she had two children.
Gillibrand was appointed to fill Hillary Clinton's Senate seat when she was named Secretary of State in 2009, and then won the seat twice on her own, all in just the last six years.
Also this week, he was behind bars for 17 years, wrongfully convicted of killing his parents.
Now Martin Tankleff is thinking of running for Congress on Long Island.
Political reporter Dave Evans spoke with Tankleff, who may challenge long-serving Congressman Peter King.
