Mover loses bride's wedding dress weeks before nuptials

NEW YORK (WABC) -- No one wants to lose something in a move, but imagine if the box that didn't make it had your wedding dress in it - that's what happened to one bride.

"I don't know what to do my wedding dress is missing." Dayana Brito is distraught over her dress. Just a few month ago she dazzled, modeling her wedding dress for the first time at David's Bridal in Manhattan.

Dayana, her fiance and young son, moved from Brooklyn to San Antonio, Texas in April, but when the moving truck showed up, a week after her guaranteed delivery date the box containing her treasured trousseau was M.I.A.

"It had my veil my wedding dress and underskirt," said Brito.

She says her mover, Sega Transportation Inc., in the Bronx was unmoved about her upcoming nuptials in July, a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic that she now has no dress for.

On top of that the dress cost $1,200. and it was uninsured.

So we got in contact with Sega Transportation Inc., the manager asked for proof the box was on board. One very important thing Dayana did was she snapped pictures of all her items as they were being loaded onto the truck.

We sent her photos of the missing bridal box and the mover somehow found it the very next day. Sega's manager said the box was left on the truck. And wound up in San Francisco, at the mover's next stop. It took a week to transport the box back to the Bronx. Then, voila via next day air back to San Antonio.

Sega Transportation apologized for the mix-up saying this was an isolated incident.

The big takeaway, before you move, check the company's registration with the federal D-O-T. Sega was registered.
