7 On Your Side: June Best Bets
Nina Pineda has a look at some of the best deals for June, including some Father's Day ideas.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- It's almost June, and a lot of us will be spending big bucks on Father's Day, but it's not too early to be thinking about back to school.

Here are 7 On Your Side's Best Buys for June.

It's hard to believe that we're talking back to school when the kids are still in school, but the sales roll out at the end of the month and will get better throughout the summer. But let's start with a sweet free treat.

Next Friday is National Doughnut Day, so leave your wallet and calorie counter at home.

"That means Krispy Kreme, Tim Horton's and Dunkin' Donuts are all going to give a free doughnut to anyone who goes into their stories," DealNews.com's Dan DeGrandpre said.

His big bargain for June is Caribbean vacations, which he says really heat up.

"If you can take it, it's hotter in June," he said. "You'll have resorts just about all to yourself and much lower prices."

Also sizzling are prices on TVs. Dan says you'll get the biggest discount if you buy big, but not too big.

"Now's a good time to look for those $500 55-inch or those $300 42-inch TVs," he said.

And a popular TV accessory, Apple TV, is getting upgraded. That means older $100 models will be discounted.

"It's already down to $60," he said. "If it gets cheaper, we're talking about $50 or less."

Also discounted is lacy lingerie, because Victoria's Secret's June semi-annual sale will send prices plummeting all over.

"You see competing sales at Frederick's of Hollywood, Maidenform, even Spanxx," he said. "So it drives prices down at other retailers."

And even though school isn't out, can you believe retailers are getting the jump on back to school sales? Online, Walmart and JC Penney's sales have already started.

"They want to get ahead of everyone else," Dan said. "Because people only buy one laptop for back to school."

Speaking of laptops, Dan says look for $400 laptops to drop to $300.

"The time to buy a laptop is June July and August," Dan said.

And we haven't forgotten Father's Day on June 21. Hold off on traditional gifts like grills and ties. Your best buy for dad is power tools.

"You'll find a lot of hand tools for under $10, and power tools are 70 percent off depending on the brand," Dan said.

Dan says the best time of the year to buy a grill is July 4th weekend, so give dad an I-O-U and wait two weeks.
