Man struck and killed by LIRR train; Babylon branch service restored

BALDWIN (WABC) -- A man was struck and killed by an LIRR train near the Baldwin Station this afternoon.

The man was not authorized to be where he was on the tracks. He was about six train car lengths east of the Baldwin Station when he was hit at around 1:11 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He's believed to be in his 50's to 60's.

The MTA is investigating.

Service on the Babylon Branch was suspended in both directions between Jamaica and Babylon, but has been restored with residual delays of up to two hours.
