NEW YORK (WABC) -- The NYPD on Friday honored two sisters from Wisconsin who donated their Christmas money after overhearing their parents discus the fatal shootings of Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.

Nine-year-old Gretchen Lysne and her 7-year-old sister Victoria told their parents they wanted to donate their $20 Christmas presents to the Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers Fund, which was raising money to pay off the two officers' mortgages and provide for their families.

Tunnels to Towers received thousands of donations from around the country, but the girls' donation was something special.

So fund organizers invited them to be the official starters of the Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers Stair Climb, to be held Sunday at One World Trade Center.

As part of police week, the girls have been touring New York City, taking in the sites and visiting various agencies, including the FDNY and Port Authority. Getting around town has not been a problem, as FDNY volunteers are giving them the grand tour.

They visited NYPD Headquarters Friday afternoon, where Commissioner William Bratton greeted them.
