Experienced skydiver dies after injured in accident

WANTAGE (WABC) -- A skydiver injured in an accident in New Jersey has died.

Police say Paul Hayes died at Morristown Medical Center on Friday night. The 38-year-old was an experienced skydiver who completed more than 750 jumps.

Fellow skydivers say Hayes was initiating a high-speed turn to land in Wantage on Thursday when something went wrong.

His shoot was open, but Hayes hit the ground at about 70 miles per hour.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
