FORT MYERS, Fla. (WABC) -- A sharp-eyed news crew helped to save a baby bobcat during a wildfire in Florida.

A photographer was covering a fire near Fort Myers when he spotted the cub alone in a patch of burned brush.

Wildlife officials gave the kitten water and moved him to a shady spot out of danger. After the kitten was hydrated, they left him in the area so his mother will find him.

Wildlife workers will return to check on the animal this weekend.
