NYPD seeking suspect in Upper West Side attempted strangulation

UPPER WEST SIDE (WABC) -- Police are seeking a suspect who attempted to strangle a woman on the Upper West Side Sunday morning.

A 23-year-old woman was walking on West 78th Street just before 5 a.m. when a man approached her from behind.

The suspect put his arm around her neck and his hand over her mouth and began to choke her, police said. The woman fought off the suspect and fled the area.
