LC Kids
Puppet-Building Workshop
LC Kids presents this hands-on workshop for the whole family which begins with an introduction to the vast, expressive possibilities of puppets by Georgian puppeteer Leo Gabriadze of Gabriadze Theatre and some of the astonishing creations of his father, Rezo Gabriadze, from their company's production of Ramona, featured in this summer's Lincoln Center Festival. Families then work together to bring their own characters to life, designing and building their own puppets under the guidance of the wonderful New York City puppeteer and storyteller Erin Orr. Saun & Starr
Bronx natives Saundra Williams and Starr Duncan Lowe performed with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings on their 2008 album, I Learned the Hard Way, as Sharon's backup singers, and then officially became The Dapettes. The 2013 album Give the People What They Want featured The Dapettes on background vocals. Onstage cover songs soon gave way to original compositions, and The Dapettes became Saun & Starr, whose highly anticipated debut album Look Closer was recently released.

Rocky Dawuni
Ghanaian international music star Rocky Dawuni brings his unique Afro Roots sound to global audiences to champion important social issues. Over the course of his career-which includes five albums, the latest being Branches of the Same Tree-his infectious grooves and dance-inducing anthems have consistently excited fans, including some of music's biggest stars with whom he's performed and collaborated. Having appeared at many of the biggest world music and reggae events, Dawuni has worked alongside Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Jason Mraz, Sharon Jones, Janelle Monae, and John Legend, among many others.

DJ KS 360 presents Behind The Groove
Featuring Pitchblak Brass Band
PitchBlak Brass Band is a Brooklyn-based ten-piece band whose style and sound represent hip-hop from the 1980s to present day. A collective of young musicians, composers, and artists, PitchBlak embodies the contemporary and vibrant undercurrents of New York City. The group has performed at the Kennedy Center, 92Y Tribeca, Brooklyn Bowl, Toronto's NXNE Music Festival, and CMJ, and has played with the legendary Manhattan Brass, Kid Daytona, Rebirth Brass Band, Raya Brass Band, and Kermit Ruffins and on the film track of Beasts of the Southern Wild. PitchBlak, which also trains and mentors young musicians in community outreach programs and classrooms throughout the United States, released its debut album You See Us in 2013. Performing with Pitchblak is DJ KS 360, also known as Kwikstep, is a hip hop dancer/ choreographer/ poet/ actor and hand percussionist.

Downtown Comes Uptown
Morningsiders, Michael Daves, Animal Years, and Kate Davis
Hosted by Rita Houston of WFUV
Presented in collaboration with Rockwood Music Hall
Morningsiders, a New York-based band featuring songwriters Magnus Ferguson (vocals/guitar) and Reid Jenkins (vocals/fiddle), draw on Americana folk while also veering into the worlds of pop, rock, and jazz. The group's debut EP, Unfocus, came out in February. Heralded as "a leading light of the New York bluegrass scene" by The New York Times, guitarist/mandolinist Michael Daves has worked with Chris Thile, Steve Martin, Tony Trischka, and Rosanne Cash, in addition to working solo. His most recent project is Sleep With One Eye Open, the debut album from Thile and Daves. Brooklyn's Animal Years bring a fresh face to indie roots rock, with influences ranging from early Kings of Leon and My Morning Jacket to Young The Giant and The Avett Brothers. The group's debut record, Sun Will Rise, features free-wheeling, feel-good melodies and ringing guitars. ASCAP award-winning vocalist and bassist Kate Davis most recently served as Music Director at the 2015 Sundance Festival. Kate's recent projects/concerts include the upcoming Disney film, "The Finest Hours", the Kennedy Center's American Voices PBS special, Jazz at Lincoln Center with Ben Folds, and the Spoleto Festival USA.
