Middletown gas station attendant dragged when customer tries to steal money

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (WABC) -- Police are investigating after a suspect dragged a gas station attendant from his car in the Belford section.

According to the Middletown Police Department, around 7:25 p.m. Aug. 15 the suspect pulled into the 76 gas station on Highway 36 in Middletown and asked for $10 in fuel.

The subject paid the attendant, then grabbed on to the attendant's nail apron, which is where the attendant kept his money.

The attendant was dragged about 35 feet toward Highway 36 north until the nail apron ripped away. It contained about $1,500 in cash.,

The vehicle is described as a white, four-door 2009-2012 Toyota Corolla LE with tinted windows and no license plates. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 732-615-2100 or 732-615-2009.
