Runners hit the streets for the annual Fifth Avenue Mile in Manhattan

NEW YORK (WABC) -- On Sunday, runners hit the streets in Manhattan for the annual Fifth Avenue Mile.

The race took runners down 20 blocks on the Upper East Side.

A stretch of 5th Avenue opened to runners of all ages and abilities who wanted to run their best mile in New York City.

Special races included a youth mile, the George Sheehan Memorial Mile for runners age 60 and over, the NYRR Road Mile Championships, and Olympic-caliber professional men's and women's races.

The race was broadcast live on ABC7.

And in less than two months, runners from around the world will race through the streets of New York City for the TCS New York City Marathon.
