Police say the 2-year-old female toddler fell onto the roadbed while in her stroller at the eastbound E train platform at the Archer Avenue Station Monday morning.
The mother who was throwing out trash, saw the child fall and jumped onto the tracks after her. The mother suffered a sprained ankle while the child suffered a bruise to her eye.
It is believed two good samaritans helped the two back onto the platform.
"She forgot to lock the stroller, and it ran right onto the tracks," said one witness.
The mother and daughter were transported to Long Island Jewish Hospital in stable condition.
A train coming into the station stopped just in time.
