New film "Ant-Man" crawls into theaters
Entertainment reporter Sandy Kenyon reviews "Ant-Man", starring Paul Rudd.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Another Marvel super-hero crawls into theaters Friday.

Paul Rudd plays "Ant-Man", who gets picked to become a super-hero that can shrink to the size of an ant.

Call "Ant-Man" a super-hero with a sense of humor, and that requires a special blend of talent to play such a character.

Paul Rudd has shown he can do both comedy and drama, which makes him a logical choice to star in this particular Marvel movie.

Rudd makes an appealing "Ant-Man", not so much a super-hero as well as an anti-hero.

His super-power allows him to get small at the touch of a button, thanks to a formula developed by a scientist.

He is now a rich bad guy, determined to create a miniature army so the character played by Michael Douglas recruits a thief just out of prison to save the world from his former assistant.

Helping master the new technology is the scientist's daughter, played by Evangeline Lilly, who spent so many years "Lost" on ABC.

Like those "Guardians of the Galaxy", "Ant-Man" takes a lesser-known character from the Marvel Comics, blows him up on the big screen and then adds plenty of laughs.

Michael pena told me his 6 year old son had a good time watching"Ant-Man" and not just because his dad is so funny in it.

This is a kid-friendly film, though I found the ants more weird than wonderful.

"Ant-Man" is best seen with kids. Just don't go expecting to be as fully entertained as so many of us were by "Guardians of the Galaxy".

Both movies are from Marvel, owned by the same parent company as ABC7.
