15 dead, 100 injured in India explosions

A government minister in India says 15 people have been killed and more than 100 injured as a series of explosions have hit the western city of Ahmadabad. The urban development minister of Gujarat state (Nitin Patel) says the blasts went off in several neighborhoods of the busy city on Saturday evening.

The federal home secretary (Madhukar Gupta) told reporters that "so far our reports indicate that there were 13 or 14 blasts."

Several Indian cities have been hit by serial blasts in recent months. The attacks that have been blamed on Islamic militants.

Today's blasts come a day after seven small-intensity explosions hit the southern technology hub of Bangalore killing two people.
