A Yonkers man is facing charges Monday after authorities say he attacked another man with a machete. Police say around 9 p.m. Sunday, two men became involved in a verbal argument while in the parking lot of 77 Walsh Road.

The 50-year-old victim reportedly told police the argument escalated, and 66-year-old Angel Hernandez went to his car and removed a machete.

The suspect then allegedly slashed the victim in the left hand, left shoulder and upper lip with the knife.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.

Police located Hernandez while canvassing the area. They say the machete was recovered from a wooded area where the suspect was seen disposing of the evidence.

Hernandez was charged with assault and criminal possession in a weapon 3rd degree.
