A New Jersey police officer has been arrested for allegedly exposing himself using a webcam to an undercover detective he believed was a 13-year-old girl. State Criminal Justice Director Stephen Taylor said 49-year-old James N. Haspel of Chatham, a 25-year veteran of the Madison Borough Police Department, was arrested Tuesday.

He's being held at the Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Haspel is charged with official misconduct, attempting to endanger the welfare of a child and attempting to transmit obscene materials to a minor.

He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

A spokesman for the state Attorney General's Office said it has not been notified about legal counsel for Haspel.
