String of burglaries on Upper East Side

Police on the Upper East Side are on the lookout for a suspect involved in up to six burglaries.

Only he knows why he's doing it, but NYPD detectives released surveillance pictures of a man they're calling the "Upper East Side Creeper."

A shadowy-figure, roaming the neighborhood for the past three weeks and finding his way into unlocked apartments in residential buildings.

"I approached him, and he apologized. I definitely got the sense he was snooping around," said Colleen Brennan, one of the victims.

Detectives say he strikes at all hours and has entered at least half-a-dozen buildings over a 19 block area from East 63rd street to East 82nd street.

Colleen says her neighbor was burglarized on the same day. Electronics and cash were untouched, but two rings were missing and something else was left behind.

"There was a flower," adds Brennan.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6'2", and 40-45 years old.

He was seen wearing a dark jacket with a white emblem on the chest and gold rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS(8477).
