People looking to hitch a ride in New York City can now use social media to get where they're going.

Zimride launched in the Big Apple and Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

The website connects drivers looking for company with passengers who want to avoid mass transit and are willing to pay for gas.

It even uses information from your Facebook page to try to link people with similar music tastes.
