A 1-year-old boy was injured when he got his hand stuck in the escalator a Manhattan Barnes & Noble Friday morning.

The incident happened at 10:48 a.m. at the Upper West Side store at Broadway and 82nd Street.

The 21-month-old boy was with his nanny coming down the escalator when he tripped and got his hand caught in the steps.

An employee said the escalator automatically stopped when the boy's hand got stuck. He was stuck for a short time and managed to free himself.

Responding firefighters treated the victim at the scene for a big cut on his right hand.

He is at a local hospital being evaluated and is reportedly doing okay.

Several people in the store called 911 and tried to help.
