Heroin found in Sullivan County elementary school

FALLSBURG

Many parents of students at Benjamin Cosor Elementary School are concerned after police believe someone, possibly a teacher, has been shooting up heroin during the school day.

In December, an employee found a case containing needles and heroin in a faculty bathroom.

Fallsburg Police started an investigation. Then last week, a school resource officer discovered a used heroin baggie in the same restroom.

Police reviewed surveillance footage and determined six teachers and one aide had visited the bathroom that day.

The staffers were questioned and initially each one agreed to submit to a urine test. But that changed upon advice from the teacher's union and attorneys.

A letter went home yesterday announcing the discovery and the investigation which set off shockwaves among parents.
