SOUTH BRONX (WABC) -- Police have charged a victim's brother after a murder left a Bronx woman dead on her birthday.
The body of 30-year-old Erica Wilson was found dead in her apartment Thursday night in the South Bronx.
Erica's brother Jeremy was taken in for questioning, and later charged with manslaughter on Friday night.
When Erica's family couldn't reach her, her mother went to 871 Brook Avenue to check on her. Neighbors then heard Erica's mother scream.
Police were then called to the scene around 7:15 p.m. Thursday. Erica was unresponsive with head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene in her apartment.
Friends tell Eyewitness News that Erica worked at the mall and as a babysitter, and that she was active, healthy and independent. She lived alone.
Neighbors said it was the victim's birthday Thursday.
There is no word on a motive at this point.
