BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- A man is in custody following a standoff with police in Brooklyn Thursday.

Authorities say the 48-year-old man got into a dispute with his 44-year-old nephew, then fired a weapon once at him before running into a house on the 100 block of Covert Street in the Bushwick section.

The nephew was not struck.

Around 11:30 a.m., the man was holed up in an apartment, with police trying to talk him out.

He was finally taken into custody just before 12:30 p.m. No weapon was recovered.

The incident happened across the street from the playground of IS 296, where a temporary shelter in place was issued.

No injuries were reported.
