NEW YORK (WABC) -- The visit of Pope Francis will have an impact on a number of businesses in New York City.
The horse-drawn carriages headed out to Central Park Thursday for a beautiful day, but Friday the Clinton Park stable won't see much coming or going.
That's because horses won't be allowed in the park because of the pope's visit.
"We are missing a day of work which of course we don't like to, but we do have a lot of Irish and Italian Catholics in the business who because of the day off, maybe they're hoping they can go see the pope or get a glimpse of him while he's in town," said carriage driver Christina Hansen.
She plans to take care of her horse at the stable Friday, but Thursday she was happy to be giving rides, as were British tourists who said the ride was on their bucket list.
Interestingly, some horses will be allowed in Central Park, those participating in the Rolex Central Park Horse Show. But the rules are different when it comes to the carriage horses, something drivers are taking in stride.
"Hurricanes, snowstorms, popes..it's all part of the job," said Hansen.
Pedicabs will likely be staying parked. Vendors who usually set up around or inside Central Park will also not be allowed.
And it would have been a lucrative day for vendors at Madison Square Garden, but they too are prohibited from setting up shop.
"That is bad for business because every street is closed. Tomorrow I am staying home and no money, that is bad for me," said one vendor.
And the same is true down at ground zero. The pope's visit is impacting vendors there too, all for safety reasons, though Christina thinks the pope should do away with the popemobile and see Central Park from the back of her carriage.
"My carriage here is even Vatican gold," she said.
