The daughter of a k-Mart employee is taking on the retailer over its decision to start holiday shopping on Thanksgiving.

Jillian Fisher has launched an online petition to ask K-Mart to give thousands of workers the day off.

K-Mart announced stores will stay open for 42 straight hours, from 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving, to midnight on Black Friday.

The petition asks stores to ask employees who want to volunteer to work the holiday.

K-Mart says it's aware of Fisher's mother's schedule and that Fischer's mother has been given her preferred shift on Thanksgiving
