Day of Giving: ABC and Disney help support Hurricane Harvey victims
Kemberly Richardson has the details on Disney's Day of Giving.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Disney and ABC together partnered with the Red Cross to host a "Day of Giving" on Thursday and into Friday morning to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and millions of dollars were raised.

Celebrities and Disney-ABC employees answered phones all day taking donations. Calls were received from so many kind-hearted, inspiring people, from veterans to young children, to people giving their last dollar to the cause.

At last count, the Day of Giving raised at least $14,265,490 for victims of Hurricane Harvey, and you can still donate!

Text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation through the Red Cross. You can also visit redcross.org/abc or call 1-855-999-4483 (GIVE).

Celebrities who participated in the Day of Giving at GMA share their thoughts.

"Our hearts go out to everyone in the devastating path of this historic storm," said Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer, The Walt Disney Company. "It's hard to fully appreciate the impact, in part because it isn't over yet. But we know thousands of people have lost everything and now face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together, and we're using our unique resources and reach to help those in need."

Disney and its local Houston station ABC13 had committed $1 million to the Red Cross for relief and recovery efforts for communities affected by Hurricane Harvey prior to the Day of Giving.

The day kicked off on our morning newscasts Thursday before handing the baton over to Good Morning America. On ABC, Freeform, Radio Disney and across all social media, there was a unified call-to-action to donate to the American Red Cross, with those dollars going to benefit those most impacted by this devastating storm.

Disney's last "Day of Giving" in 2012 raised more than $18 million to aid local communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
