AMITYVILLE, Long Island (WABC) -- Two construction workers suffered injuries when the deck they were working on collapsed Monday afternoon in Amityville.

A 56-year-old man was critically injured and taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. The other worker, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life threatening injuries.

The two men were the only ones working on the deck at the time of the collapse.

The Vision Home Improvement employees were working to elevate the home, which was damaged during Hurricane Sandy.

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives and representatives from OSHA will conduct a joint investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
