Dinner cruise yacht runs aground near Governors Island

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Eyewitness News is told the Hornblower Cruises and Events dinner cruise, carrying 91 passengers ran into trouble near Governors Island just after 10:00.

FDNY, NYPD, OEM, USCG and other agencies responded to help the 91 passengers on board from the disabled boat.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Some passengers aboard say the crew on the ship did everything they could to make sure everybody remained calm. They also opened the bar to ensure people had a good time as they were waiting on the other vessels to take them back to the pier.

What caused the boat to run up on the rocks is still being investigated.

Cameron Clark, the Vice President and General Manager of Hornblower Cruises and Events released a statement saying,

"One of our excursion vessels experienced a loss of propulsion...we secured the vessel on Governors Island temporarily, and transferred all 91 passengers to one of our other vessels to complete their cruise and return them to our dock at Pier 40. There were no injuries, and the passengers and crew were never in any danger. Hornblower Cruises & Events is proud of its impeccable safety record operating in the harbor.
