WATCH: Dog-napping caught on surveillance in Williamsburg
Renee Stoll has the story from Williamsburg.

WILLIAMSBURG (WABC) -- How many times in New York have you seen someone tie up their dog to make a quick trip into a store? It's quite common, however you may change your mind when you hear what happened to a dog named 'Suki'.

Guadalupe Garcia tied Suki, her 7-year-old Pomeranian up outside a store.

SURVEILLANCE VIDEO:

"It took me less than five minutes - out of the shop, and he was gone,"

In surveillance video from Khim's Millennium Market in Williamsburg, just a few minutes after Garcia tied up the dog's leash, a woman drove up in a white sedan, got out, and was immediately drawn Suki.

"It's not just a dog, it's part of our family," says Garcia.

The woman may have been questioning people outside the store about the dog before she goes in and purchases flowers. When she goes to leave, she nearly walks away before turning around, and quickly unfastens the dog from his leash, and scoops him up before quickly walking back to her car.

"Who comes to a shop and buys flowers and steals a dog? It's like stealing a kid," says Garcia.

Suki belongs to Garcia's roommate, who is away in Europe, while detectives are looking into the case. Although the woman deliberately unleashes the dog, Garcia is hoping her intentions are much more innocent than wanting to steal a member of her family.

"She had a moment and fell in love with him, we want to assume that," adds Garcia, "she just took the opportunity and kidnapped him, but she needs to give him back."

Fliers have been placed up outside the store, and the owner is offering a reward. Garcia just hopes Suki and others think twice about leaving their dogs tied up outside a store.
