A dog stolen from outside a Brooklyn store has been returned to his owners

WILLIAMSBURG (WABC) -- A Pomeranian that was snatched off the a Brooklyn street is back home with his family.

Suki was returned to his owners around 10 p.m. Monday, dropped off by someone who said the woman who took the dog did so by mistake.

Surveillance video shows Suki being untied from a post outside a market in Williamsburg early Sunday morning.

SURVEILLANCE VIDEO:

He was returned within 48 hours.

Guadalupe Garcia, who lives with Suki's owner, had tied the 7-year-old dog up outside Khim's Millennium Market.

"It took me less than five minutes," she said. "Out of the shop, and he was gone."

Just a few minutes after Garcia tied up the dog's leash, a woman drove up in a white sedan, got out and immediately approached Suki.

The woman may have been questioning people outside the store about the dog before she went inside and purchased flowers. When she left, she nearly walked away before turning around and quickly unfastening the dog from his leash before scooping him up and walking back to her car.

"It's not just a dog, it's part of our family," Garcia said. "Who comes to a shop and buys flowers and steals a dog? It's like stealing a kid."
