EAST ORANGE, N.J. (WABC) -- A New Jersey man has been charged in the death of his mother after police found her remains in the trunk of a car.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said the investigation started when 62-year-old Patricia Blocker, of East Orange, was reported missing. As police were searching near Hartford Street in Newark Monday, they found her car.

As detectives searched the car, they found human remains in the trunk. The remains were tentatively identified as Blocker's.

The prosecutor said the investigation led to the arrest of Blocker's son, 37-year-old William Logan, of East Orange. He was charged with murder and weapons possession, and his bond was set at $2 million.

The cause of Blocker's death is being determined by the medical examiner.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at 877-847-7432.
