WYANDANCH, N.Y. (WABC) -- Five members of a Long Island high school varsity football team were suspended last week over rough housing in a hallway after another sporting event.

The Wyandanch Memorial High School students were suspended from classes for two days but not from playing football.

The superintendent told Eyewitness News that the football team was watching a volleyball game, and afterward started trying to give each other wedgies in the hallway.

Police looked at tape and deemed nothing criminal, but the superintendent decided that the brief suspensions were warranted as a precautionary measure. He did not label the incident as bullying.
