STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- Students at a high school on Staten Island should have a normal day Monday after a fire disrupted classes Friday.

The electrical fire prompted a full evacuation of Tottenville High School, with nearly 4,000 students gathered on the football field. Officials say parents were permitted to sign out their children, and the Department of Education moved those who remained to various nearby schools until afternoon dismissal.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the building lost power.

Officials say smoke from an electrical panel, likely on the third floor, prompted the evacuation around 8:45 a.m.

School officials say air quality tests were conducted in the building and came back within normal limits.

There are some minor repairs needed to electrical panels that were impacted, and the work is expected to take place over the next few days and will not impact classes.

There are no reported injuries.
