EAST ELMHURST (WABC) -- A Queens man is under arrest and facing multiple charges after police said he abducted a teenage girl.

Jonathan Coronel, 21, is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree robbery, kidnapping, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful imprisonment and criminal contempt.

Investigators said Coronel approached his ex-girlfriend and forced her into a vehicle at knifepoint Saturday. He had followed her into a shoe repair shop.

As two bystanders tried to intervene, Coronel allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened one of them. Witnesses said Coronel then drove off with the girl.

He drove eastbound on Northern Boulevard from 81St Street in East Elmhurst with her in the back seat.

Coronel dropped the victim off at the corner of 82 Street and Astoria Boulevard at shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police said he was taken into custody and transported to Elmhurst Hospital with a self-inflicted stab wound to the torso, and is listed in stable condition.
