Backstage with Sandy Kenyon: Live with Kelly and Ryan

NEW YORK (WABC) -- They've been hosting together for just a few months, but Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest are so comfortable it seems like they've been together for years. So it may surprise viewers to learn Seacrest was nervous when he stepped out for that first show.

"I was so excited, and I think because we had known about it for a little while but weren't allowed to say anything to anyone, and we were genuinely enthusiastic about the beginning," he said. "Finally, we could talk about it and not be in trouble."

The new season of "Live with Kelly and Ryan" in in full swing, the first full season featuring the new co-host.

"He's somebody that I've wanted to work with for such a long time, that sometimes dreams do come true," she said.

The premiere was a celebration of what 's been called their "instant rapport."

"She makes it so easy to do the show," he said. "I think often, even today, I think to myself, there's nothing, I don't know what to talk about today. And then we come out, 25 minutes into the show, we haven't even gotten to the stuff we were going to talk about."

The hosts have tens of millions of followers on social media, who they offered a peek behind the scenes courtesy Facebook.

"I have watched this show for a very long time," he said. "I'm a fan of the show. I'm a friend of Kelly Ripa's...I want her to feel she made the right choice, and I want the team and the audience to feel they want me to come back. And that's what was going through my mind."
